About Ngā Hau Māngere
Ngā Hau Māngere Birthing Centre (Nga Hau) was founded by the visionary efforts of Chloe Wright, under the Wright Family Foundation with support from Tagata Moana Maternity Trust (Tagata Moana).
Ngā Hau now operates as a whānau-centered birthing facility led by a Pasifika and Māori partnership model between Tagata Moana and Turuki Health Care (Turuki).
The partnership between Tagata Moana and Turuki brings together a shared kaupapa, demonstrating a significant investment in equity, innovation, and community-driven care for South Auckland whānau. This partnership represents a tightly connected, culturally grounded approach to maternity and early year services care, ensuring high-quality, accessible support for all māmā and pēpi.

Our Expectations for Whānau Experience
We value the services our kaimahi deliver at Ngā Hau and want to ensure our whānau have a culturally and clinically safe experience. We acknowledge every experience will be different and unique to each whānau. At a minimum, we expect whānau birthing at Nga Hau to experience the following:
-
Whānau feel well-informed, educated, and confident about their choices
-
Whānau feel supported and cared for
-
Whānau feel their cultural perspectives and needs are acknowledged and responded to in a culturally and clinically safe way
-
Whānau feel their wellbeing and health are at the centre of the services we deliver
Our Outcomes
As a partnership, Tagata Moana and Turuki have developed a set of shared outcomes for Ngā Hau. We ask that as part of this access agreement, you engage and support these outcomes.

Whānau have an increased awareness and understanding of preventative strategies that allow for better decision-making around their health
-
Whānau have early access to effective care options and are supported in their ability to confidently navigate these options
-
Whānau receive a holistic continuum of care over the first 2,000 days, with seamless transitions between services
-
Whānau receive clinically and culturally safe care through a comprehensive and sustainable model of care
